As most of you already know, Arron Asham, #45 Right Wing for the Pittsburgh Penguins (Metis warrior and the Pride of Portage La Prairie) gave me his puck at the Caps Pens game last Wednesday. And yep, I’m still on Cloud Nine.
And yep, I’ve moved one step closer to my own dream of playing hockey — I did my first cross overs Friday night. Thanks a zillion to Brenda Denny, my teacher, who taught me the skill and had the confidence in me!
For those of you who wonder, ice skating is total Zen. You have to be in your body and out of your head. You have to look ahead but be in the flow. When you skate backwards, you have to trust that people will give you space and that the balance is within you. If someone falls, you have to trust that they will work out their own karma, and if you fall, you just get up and skate again. It all begins by showing up and it always gets better through practice.
May the Force Be With You!
